1. A Touch of Burgundy

I absolutely love this deep, wine-inspired shade seen in Hermès’ Fall 2023 Ready-to-Wear collection. With its rich and opulent undertones, it captures the essence of autumn. This season, embrace this color by incorporating a few pieces into your wardrobe, like an elegant draped wool-felt jacket, a timeless leather tote, or a chic pair of loafers.

2. The Grey Coat

This classic silhouette emerges as the quintessential piece for those seeking both warmth and style this autumn. Its neutral shade makes it a versatile addition to any wardrobe, effortlessly complementing a myriad of outfits, from chic-casual looks to more refined ensembles. Chances are you might already have an iteration of this style in your coat collection ;). This season, I have this gorgeous Loulou Studio striped double-breasted coat on my wishlist, which you can wear with the matching pleated wide-leg pants. So chic!

3. The White Bouclé Jacket

The white bouclé jacket, reminiscent of the iconic Chanel tweed design, is the epitome of timeless luxury this fall. Its textured allure and pristine hue have the transformative power to elevate any ensemble to the pinnacle of sophistication.

A testament to its enduring appeal, the jacket’s recent appearance at the Chloé Fall/Winter 2023 Fashion Show, paired with a sleek black turtleneck, a matching white long bouclé skirt, and riding boots, showcased its versatility and undeniable elegance. This season, consider opting for this très chic Sandro Cropped bouclé wool jacket.

4. The Peacoat

Originally worn by European sailors in the 18th century, this double-breasted woolen coat was designed to withstand the harsh conditions of life at sea. Its wide lapels, broad collar, and heavy fabric provided protection against the elements, while its short length allowed for ease of movement.

With its timeless design and versatility, the peacoat is the perfect coat for the autumn season, offering both warmth and style. Whether paired with dark blue jeans and a striped sweater for a casual look or worn over une petite robe noire for a more polished ensemble, the peacoat is a classic choice for fall. This season, consider opting for this fabulous Sandro double-breasted pea coat or this Sézane James Coat.

5. Pleated Grey Pants

A pair of stylish grey pleated trousers can instantly elevate any outfit. They can be paired with a variety of tops, such as a classic white shirt or t-shirt, a chic turtleneck knit, or a comfortable striped sweater. This season, two great options to consider are the Loulou Studio pleated pinstriped wide-leg pants or the Nili Lotan Corette twill straight-leg pants.

6. The Tapered Denim

I absolutely love this denim style! Tapered denim, as the name suggests, narrows down towards the ankle, offering a silhouette that’s a harmonious blend of relaxed and tailored. Unlike the classic straight-leg jeans that maintain a consistent width from hip to hem, tapered jeans provide a bit more room around the thighs and hips and then gradually slim down, creating a more contoured and modern look.

This particular cut is versatile, flattering a wide range of body types and allowing for a seamless transition from casual to dressy with just a change of footwear or top. This season, my ultimate favorite tapered denim is the Totême high-rise tapered jeans (which also exist in white denim and black). Wear them with your favorite pair of ballet flats or loafers.

7. The Trench Coat

The trench coat, a quintessential staple in the French wardrobe, effortlessly marries elegance with functionality. With its origins rooted in military design, the trench has evolved to become the epitome of transitional outerwear. Whether worn belted for a polished, singular look or left open over distressed denim, its adaptability is undeniable.

This fall, brands like The Frankie Shop and The Row are reimagining the trench coat with oversized versions, offering ample space for layering even the chunkiest of knitwear. Meanwhile, Loulou Studio and Sandro present the classic trench coat in glossy satin (I love this Loulou Studio belted double-breasted satin trench coat). My ultimate favorite has remained the same over the years: the Sézane Scott Trench Coat in beige hues.

8. The Wall Street-Worthy Black Coat

The tailored long black coat, a symbol of understated elegance and power, has made a resounding comeback on the Fall Winter ’23 runways. Brands like Lanvin, Saint Laurent, and Givenchy have reinvigorated this classic by drawing inspiration from traditionally masculine motifs, such as pinstripes, enlarged shoulders, and double-breasted designs reminiscent of Wall Street’s sartorial choices.

Consider opting for this très chic Sandro Long coat and embrace a piece that promises enduring style and sophistication for years to come.

9. Ballet Flats

Ballet flats, with their delicate charm and undeniable comfort, have gracefully pirouetted back into the fashion spotlight. As the quintessential transitional shoe, they bridge the gap between summer sandals and winter boots, offering both style and ease. For those navigating the corporate world, these ballet flats are a godsend, easily stowed in a tote bag for a stylish alternative to heels. Whether you’re attending an elegant soirée or simply running errands, ballet flats are the shoe trend of this autumn season, promising both elegance and practicality in every step.

Leonce’s coups de coeur: these iconic Roger Vivier Très Vivier strass buckle babies ballerinas in patent leather.

10. Chunky Loafers

Loafers are a timeless essential for any French wardrobe, available in various forms. Chunky lug sole styles are the standout trend this fall season, complementing modern workwear and casual denim alike. These shoes feature a toothy rubber sole, perfect for navigating wintry weather. Classic black options are expected, but tonal varieties in ivory, beige, and soft brown are fitting for fall. Chunky loafers are versatile and pair well with anything, but for a chic look, pair them with grey tailored trousers, tapered denim, or even black stirrup leggings.

The Italian brand Tod’s designs the absolute best loafers on the market. Last season, I bought this gorgeous pair of Gomma Pesante embellished glossed-leather loafers (made in Italy), and I’m absolutely enchantée by the craftsmanship and leather quality of these souliers. For more classic styles for fall, I recommend these new Sézane Amy loafers or these Albane loafers in white and navy blue.
