The weather here in Bordeaux is still quite mild for December, with highs around 15°C/59°F. Having gotten used to much harsher winters during my four years in Amsterdam, I must admit it feels strange. And, believe it or not, I actually miss Amsterdam’s bitter winter cold! It’s funny how we think we like certain things until we experience them, only to realize they were just illusions :).
But I digress! All of this to say that this year’s French winter capsule wardrobe is arriving a bit later than usual because, truthfully, it doesn’t feel much like winter here. Dreaming of a proper winter—cold, snowy, and crisp—has inspired me to gravitate toward white this season. White is having a moment, and it’s appearing more and more in collections from various brands. Think wool or faux-fur coats, cozy wool or cashmere sweaters, winter accessories like hats, scarves, and gloves, long knit dresses, and even leather or boucle bags and patent shoes. I find white brings a refreshing brightness to a winter wardrobe and pairs beautifully with classic winter tones like black, navy, burgundy (a major trend this season), camel, brown, and beige.
So don’t be surprised if this capsule feels a little less colorful than usual ;)! I hope it inspires you and gives you ideas to add, perhaps, a touch of white to your own winter wardrobe.
