The Little Things Bringing Me Comfort This Winter

The Little Things Bringing Me Comfort This Winter

Every now and then, with each change of season, I love the idea of sharing what I’m currently loving—my “coups de cœur.” These little things, these seemingly insignificant details, have a way of brightening everyday life and bringing a gentle sense of well-being.

This winter, I’ve felt an irresistible longing for comfort—or perhaps I should say reassurance. A soft, delicate knit in a powdery pink adorned with tiny ivory pearls. A musky fragrance—or a sweeter, rose-infused scent—that transports me to a countryside rose garden every time I wear it. A chic yet cozy pair of boots, perfect for slipping on with warm, plush socks. A camel shearling coat that wraps me in warmth. A bohemian-inspired suede leather bag. Or a cream-colored sweatshirt adorned with elegant gold buttons that beautifully accentuate the neckline.

So many delightful finds! Little treasures I’ve recently discovered, added to my collection this winter or tucked into my wishlist. I hope this winter collection will inspire you as much as it has me :)!

  1. A Sézane knit — Every winter, like clockwork, I add a new Sézane knit—or two ;)—to my ever-growing collection. This year, I couldn’t resist the Nattie cardigan (I chose size L for a more comfortable fit). Its color is absolutely sublime: soft, poetic, and just perfect for brightening winter days. Every time I wear it, it makes my day a little cozier and puts me in a cheerful mood.
  2. RMS Lip2Cheek (Spell) — One of you recently recommended the brand RMS to me. I was already familiar with it but felt inspired to give it another try :). I fell in love with the Lip2Cheek blush in the shade Spell, a gorgeous dusty nude rose.
  3. Goutal Rose Pompon — I’ve fallen head over heels for this rose perfume. It’s a gourmand, fruity rose paired with violet and the gentle sweetness of vanilla—utterly nostalgic and completely addictive. It’s my go-to fragrance this winter!
  4. Diptyque Fleur de Peau — A fragrance I adore wearing in winter! Floral with notes of iris, musky, and powdery, it feels like a warm embrace for the heart and mind. It’s easily one of my favorite scents from Diptyque.
  5. Violette_fr C’est la Cream — I’ve been using this cream for several months now, and I can’t recommend it enough! I’m in my thirties with combination skin that occasionally gets a few blemishes, but my skin has never looked better since I started using it (alongside other products from SVR’s Sebiaclear range—check out my winter skincare routine article here). When my skin needs an extra boost of hydration, I pair it with the Boum-Boum Milk. It also works wonderfully as a makeup base!
  6. Eyelights Cream Eyeshadow (Strobe) — I adore this beautiful eyeshadow in Strobe, a soft champagne mink shade that’s perfect for winter—chic, understated, and versatile. I also ordered the UnCoverup Concealer (which looks amazing!) and the Hydra Setting Powder, a loose powder I can’t wait to try.
  7. Totême Signature Shearling Jacket in Biscuit — This stunning shearling coat is my ultimate favorite this winter! I find it absolutely breathtaking and believe it’s a fantastic investment for the colder months. A timeless piece you’ll want to wear on repeat all season long.
  8. Chloé Susanna Ankle Boots — These Chloé ankle boots have been on my wishlist for over five years, and I still dream of owning them one day. They’re absolutely gorgeous and pair perfectly with straight-leg jeans, flares, or cropped styles that let the beautiful design of the boots shine through.
  9. Ba&sh Robbie Sweatshirt — I’m in love with this simple yet elegant sweatshirt, elevated by delicate buttons at the neckline. I ordered it in a size M, and it’s just perfect—ideal under a camel shearling coat or layered over a light blue shirt for a chic, relaxed look.
  10. Isabel Marant Altay Suede Shoulder Bag — Lately, I’ve been obsessed with saddle-style bags featuring boho-chic vibes and suede finishes. This Altay bag by Isabel Marant is simply stunning!

A Few Other Little Things

A Recipe: My grandmother’s madeleines. I found her recipe tucked away in her old cookbook, and what a joy it’s been to bake them this winter! I’ll be sharing the recipe with you this week, hoping it brings you the same sense of warmth and sweetness.

A Book: Swann’s Way by Marcel Proust. Every evening before bed, I lose myself in its pages. It’s the perfect book to savor by the fire, wrapped in a cozy blanket.

A Series: The New Look on Apple TV+. This series was recommended to me by one of you (thank you so much!), and I absolutely loved it.

A Film: The Count of Monte Cristo (2024) starring Pierre Niney. This adaptation of Alexandre Dumas’ masterpiece, which I mentioned in a previous newsletter, is a true gem that I wholeheartedly recommend.

A Museum: The Musée des Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux. If you have the chance to visit Bordeaux, don’t miss this wonderful museum. It may not be large, but it houses incredible treasures. I discovered fascinating artists there, many of whom I hadn’t encountered before—Swanevelt Van Herman, Franz Werner Tamm, Jean Pillement, Nicolas-Henry Jeaurat de Bertry, Théodore Gudin, John Martin, and Alfred Smith, to name a few. I’ve included links to some of their exhibited works so you can explore them too.

Lastly, one artwork that left a lasting impression on me this winter is The Magpie by Claude Monet, which beautifully illustrates this blog post. I’m captivated by the way Monet so delicately captures the sunlight reflecting on the snow. This winter scene from Étretat, painted during the winter of 1868–1869, is both incredibly peaceful and poetic. Gazing at it feels as though you’re right there—or better yet, it makes you wish you could be ;).

    • Thank you so much, Barbara, for your comment! I also love that painting, it’s so serene! Yes, it’s displayed at the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, such a wonderful place to experience it in person.
