1. Agnelle
Agnelle, a distinguished French glove-making brand established in 1937, is celebrated for its exceptional craftsmanship, earning the esteemed “Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant” label. This family-run business in Saint-Junien has thrived through generations, collaborating with iconic fashion houses like Christian Dior and Yves Saint-Laurent. Under the stewardship of Sophie Grégoire, Agnelle continues to marry traditional expertise with contemporary styles and materials. Renowned for its luxurious range, including tactile, motorcycle, and designer gloves, Agnelle is a symbol of French elegance and artisanal prowess, catering to both men and women with a flair for sophistication and quality. Last year, I purchased a pair of Agnelle gloves, which I wear on repeat this season. I highly recommend this brand as the quality is simply impeccable.
2. Hermès
Hermès, a name that likely needs no introduction, has been a symbol of artisanal excellence and timeless elegance since its establishment in 1837. As a family-owned and independent house, it represents the perfect blend of exceptional craftsmanship and sustainable luxury. Each creation, from their renowned handbags to exquisite silk scarves, is not just an accessory but a legacy item designed to be repaired, cherished, and passed down through generations.
I have a particular coup de coeur for this incredibly chic Hermès Farrah Clou de Selle hat (which is on my wishlist ;)), crafted in rabbit felt with a contrasting tone-on-tone woven band and a striking lacquered Clou de Selle detail. Hermès truly excels in creating superb accessories, ranging from their elegant hats to iconic silk scarves and exquisite gloves, like the gorgeous Bastille gloves.
3. Maison Michel
Maison Michel is a renowned Parisian brand that was established in 1936 and is famous for its exceptional French millinery. During the haute couture boom of the 1970s, it played a significant role in revolutionizing hat-making. In 1997, it became a part of Chanel’s Métiers d’art, solidifying its position in the world of luxury fashion. Since 2015, Priscilla Royer has been the creative director, and under her leadership, the brand has modernized traditional techniques to create innovative and distinctive hats. Maison Michel combines modern design with traditional craftsmanship, making each piece a symbol of Parisian elegance. If you’re looking for a chic winter hat, I highly recommend Maison Michel. My personal favorite is this Virginie wool felt fedora in color camel, which perfectly embodies Parisian chic.
4. Le Parapluie de Cherbourg
Le Parapluie de Cherbourg, initially founded as “Le Véritable Cherbourg” in 1986 by Jean-Pierre Yvon, is a prestigious French umbrella brand steeped in a rich family heritage of leather manufacturing that dates back to the 1800s. Although the brand itself was established long after the famous 1964 film Les Parapluies de Cherbourg, the movie’s cultural significance undoubtedly cast a spotlight on Cherbourg’s association with umbrellas, setting a symbolic stage for the brand’s inception. Under the leadership of Jean-Pierre and later his son Charles, the brand has become renowned for its exceptional, handcrafted umbrellas, symbolizing the pinnacle of French artisanal skill. I have my eye on the beautiful Le Ville umbrella in beige, which I think will look incredibly chic paired with my camel, navy blue, and black winter coats.
5. Yves Salomon
Yves Salomon is a French brand established by Grégory Salomon, a Russian exile in Siberia who relocated to Paris in 1920. The brand gained popularity in Paris thanks to Boris Salomon, Grégory’s son, who redefined the brand in the 1960s with colorful, pop-inspired furs. Yves Salomon took over the brand’s leadership in 1972 and formed partnerships with fashion icons like Thierry Mugler, Karl Lagerfeld, and Yves Saint Laurent, leading to creative and avant-garde designs. The brand launched its own label in 1980 and became known for innovative fur treatment techniques and material excellence. In the 21st century, Thomas Salomon introduced the ARMY collection, which combines technical performance with luxury, and the Météo line, which offers sustainable, fur-free alternatives. I highly recommend exploring Yves Salomon’s collection of cashmere wool coats and accessories. I absolutely love this très chic belted shearling-trimmed wool and cashmere-blend coat. Also, I just bought this pair of natural woven wool mittens and this matching wool headband, which are incredibly chic.
