The Boho-Chic Dresses I’m Considering This Summer

boho chic summer dresses

Lately, I’ve been completely obsessed with minimalist lines and long maxi dresses, which I like to call “boho-chic dresses.” These dresses are not something you’d typically wear in the city or to work, but they’re absolutely perfect for a beach vacation in places like Saint-Tropez, Ibiza, Mykonos, or Capri. They transition beautifully from day to night with just a change of shoes or a bag, which is super handy for someone like me who loves to travel light with just a carry-on for several weeks of holiday ;).

These dresses aren’t your typical French style. When I think of French-style dresses, I picture floral, wrap, and midi dresses that look stunning on some women. But on me, they feel like I’m ten years old again! Am I the only one who feels this way :)? I remember trying on one such dress for a dinner party, only to feel uncomfortable the entire evening. I’ve noticed this with other dresses that have specific patterns or cuts, like midi dresses with bows, gingham, or dots. They look very feminine and romantic, but I just don’t feel good in them.

That’s why I’ve started leaning towards longer dresses. Recently, the styles from Chloé’s Resort Off-Season 2025 collection really caught my eye (see the photos below): billowing, floating volumes, off-the-shoulder, or balloon-sleeved maxi dresses with swirling pleated metallic florals. The longer length instantly adds a chic, elegant, and feminine touch. Paired with wedge espadrilles or heeled sandals, these dresses can give a bit of height illusion and are so comfortable when it’s too hot for structured clothes. I remember walking through the narrow streets of Mykonos, feeling effortlessly chic in a white flowing embroidered maxi dress over a white one-piece swimsuit, espadrilles, a straw bag, and a hat. I like to keep the colors and prints of these dresses very minimalist so I can play around with different accessories.

So, where can you find these fabulous dresses? I have four favorite shops. First, I recommend the beautiful French label Antik Batik. It’s my “coup de coeur” (crush) of the summer! My favorite piece is this sublime Neil hand-embroidered maxi dress, which also comes in trousers with a matching sleeveless gilet or raglan-sleeve jacket. Another item on my wishlist from this brand is the superb Victoria embroidered shirt.

Next, the French label Ba&sh offers stunning boho-chic dresses reminiscent of Isabel Marant or Chloé. I particularly love the Natalia flowing dress and the Wasta long dress. If you’re looking for colorful, summery designs, check out Farm Rio. I discovered this brand last year and immediately fell in love with it. This summer, I adore this bright blue and off-white Flora maxi dress and this Garden Tiles maxi dress; the latter is perfect for a day at the beach. Finally, for minimalist yet super elegant designs in neutral colors, Massimo Dutti is your go-to shop. Recently, a few designs have caught my eye, like the elegant white pleated halterneck dress, the gorgeous linen dress with an asymmetric neckline, and the strappy ramie dress.

When it comes to accessories, I like to keep things super simple. A raffia or canvas bag is my go-to—have you seen the absolutely gorgeous Loewe Paseo raffia tote? Other favorites include The Santorini by DeMellier and this cute small bucket bag in cotton and canvas leather by Le Tanneur. For shoes, I can never recommend espadrilles enough! I recently bought these Goya flat espadrilles by Castañer, and I adore them! Flat, strappy leather sandals are also a staple for me. Last year, I got the Victory of Samothrace sandals by Ancient Greek, which I love to pair with maxi dresses. I also have the beautiful A-Emery Jalen suede sandals on my wishlist and am a fan of the chic Chloé Rebecca leather sandals. Bon shopping!

Et voilà! I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post! I’d love to hear from you—what kind of dresses do you like to wear in the summer? Leave me a comment below and share your favorites! Merci!
