Did you know? “Après-ski” is a French term that translates to “after ski.” The term was coined in Europe in the 1950s during the rise of commercial skiing and defines the time spent socializing and doing other activities after a day on the slopes.

1. The ski jacket

To look chic and stylish on or off the slopes, opt for a belted ski jacket with a feminine silhouette like this beautiful . In the same style, I just love this gorgeous in white.

2. The faux fur coat

A faux fur jacket is a cozy and stylish addition to your après-ski look. It will keep you toasty off the slopes, and it’ll look just as chic over a turtleneck when you’re back in the city. For the ultimate après-ski outfit opt for this beautiful .

3. The Fair Isle sweater

Named after one of the Shetland Islands off the coast of Scotland, the Fair Isle sweater is a forever winter classic season after season. Synonymous with skiers on the slope, this style rose to fame under the Prince of Wales in the 1920s.

For a chic après-ski look, wear your favorite Fair Isle sweater over crisp white shirting or tucked into tailored trousers. This season I just love this gorgeous to wear on or off the slopes.

4. The ski sweater

To keep you warm both on and off the slopes, opt for chic sweaters that invoke ski vibes. This style of sweater is a warm choice for long days on the slopes and is the perfect base layer for an après-ski winter ensemble. This season, I love this and this topped with a spread collar recalling 70s styles.

5. The base layer leggings

For a stylish après-ski look, I love the combo cozy turtleneck sweater paired with black leggings and snow boots. Worn as a base layer under your ski pants or alone, leggings are the perfect pants for any wintertime activity, whether on or off the slopes. This winter, consider opting for these made from naturally insulating merino wool-blend or these .

6. The ski pants

In terms of ski pants, consider opting for a style that takes inspiration from 70s resort wear like these . These are cut for a skinny fit and the stirrup cuffs help to keep them in place when you’re in action on the slopes.

7. The snow boots

If you’re a fan of the original ’70s-era Moon Boots consider opting for these gorgeous . These classic Moon Boots were inspired by the moon landings of 1969, and have remained style icons ever since. If you prefer an elegant, more streamlined take on the padded apres-ski boot, then opt for these .

8. The shearling boots

Avoid catching a chill and keep your toes toasty in shearling boots! A sherpa lining adds another layer of protection for your feet in cold weather. Prefer après-ski boots with a gripped lug sole for traction like these , especially if the ground is dusted with snow or ice. I’ll recommend choosing a neutral color to ensure they pair well with any piece of your après-ski wardrobe.

9. Gloves, beanies & sunglasses

Wrap up your après-ski ensemble with a few accessories made for bundling up during a cold snap. Opt for a pair of (made in France), and this gorgeous or this Sézane Anastasia beanie that will keep your head warm and protected from the elements. Don’t forget a chic pair of sunnies! These are just perfect for a très chic après-ski look.

10. The shearling bag

The shearling bag is probably the ultimate winter accessory, as beautiful as it is functional. I’ve rounded up the best shearling bags that will keep your winter as chic and cozy as possible. My favorites? This fabulous and this gorgeous .

  • I don’t really suit hats and find it difficult to find the correct one but the faux fur-trimmed hood is excellent and I am sure it would suit most people, it is unusual in it’s design, it is now on my urgent wish list.
