I don’t know if it’s the same where you are, but here in Bordeaux, as I write these lines, the weather is absolutely glorious: blue skies, not a cloud in sight, and afternoon temperatures reaching up to 20°C/68°F! There’s a scent in the air that unmistakably signals spring has arrived — and has already settled in. It’s the mineral warmth of sun-soaked stone, the freshness of new grass, the tender unfolding of young leaves, and the soft promise of blossoms still in bud. A breath of pollen and sunshine, a powdery, almost velvety fragrance, a gentle warmth that gives the air a kind of soft, rounded fullness. It’s absolutely divine — and difficult to describe when you’re not a perfumer :)! Oh, how I wish someone could bottle this scent — I would fill my home with it.
It’s so mild, so deliciously soft, that I took the opportunity to bring out one of my favorite fragrances — the one I always reach for when the first warm days return: Ilio by Diptyque (a limited edition released each year in June). Imagine the sun-drenched scent of prickly pear, the crisp brightness of bergamot, the delicate softness of jasmine and iris… I’m not sure why, but this perfume always takes me back to my summer holidays in Greece. Every time I wear it, I’m instantly transported to early summer. And I must say, it never fails to earn me compliments — especially from my partner, who loves it so much he bought me a backup bottle, just in case I run out…
But I digress! To celebrate the arrival of spring, I wanted to share with you a curated collection of objects I’ve gathered — little treasures and sometimes the smallest of things that manage to bring light, colour, and joy into a home. Some of them are already part of my interior; others are on my wishlist :). I hope they’ll bring as much beauty and happiness to your daily life as they have to mine.
