Here are the best summer beauty products I’m currently obsessed with! Summer is definitely the season that requires the biggest shift in your beauty stash —from skincare, haircare to makeup—. And the time for a dewy, glowing complexion, effortless beachy hair, and head-to-toe sun-kissed skin is once again upon us!
Summer prepping calls for a less-is-more approach to beauty. Think iridescent highlighters, lightweight formulas infused with SPF, multi-purpose moisturizing oils, and effortless hair care products. The brighter summer days also allow for warm, vibrant colors—pops of peach and coral layered on lips and cheeks, with vivid polish on our nails. And this year, the high gloss or glass finish is also taking over all things matte. Finally! You can wear them alone or layer them with shades of coral and pink for a barely-there, been bitten makeup effect. Summer makeup is all about emphasizing glow, natural flush, and subtle dew. While moisturizers, boosters, and sun protectors are concocted to soothe, calm, hydrate, brighten, and boost hydration.
From multi-protection sunscreen with SPF50 and the perfect after-sun care to shimmering body oil and perfume that captures the stunning scent of the Côte d’Azur, here are the ten beauty products for the summer season to slip into your bag before you head to the French Riviera. Keep scrolling below for all the beauty products that will keep you looking relaxed, restored, and radiant for the summer season.
10 Essential Summer Beauty Products
One of the best sunscreens I’ve tried that features an adaptive skincare technology for tailor-made defense from UVA and UVB rays, free radicals, and pollution. Its lightweight, nonoily texture moisturizes the skin as it protects and leaves skin radiant, flawless, and perfectly primed for makeup application.
My French Beauty Tips
Always protect your skin with enough sunscreen, and make it the most important summer habit whenever you leave the house for a long period of time. If you’re going on a beach vacation, reapply sunscreen every two hours, limit your amount of time in the sun (especially between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.), seek shade, and cover up exposed areas. No matter if you’re going to spend your days outside touring the city or sitting by the beach you should always protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays.
2. Shimmering Body Oil
Tom Ford’s shimmering body oil is designed to give skin a sun-kissed glow all year round. Blended with hints of Gold and Platinum Leaf that glint beautifully when they catch the light, this lightweight formula is scented with Amber, Sandalwood, and fresh floral notes to evoke the smell of summer. Applygenerously onto body and hands, massaging with circular movements until absorbed.
3. After-Sun Care
Spending a day at the beach can suck all the moisture out of the skin; some fine lines and dehydration wrinkles can appear. That is why it’s important to moisturize, repair, and cool the skin instantly after sun exposure.
Sisley’s after-sun care is one of my favorite skincare that soothes and hydrates the skin while making tans last longer. Indeed, repairing, moisturizing and restorative properties of stevia leaf extract, plant glycerin, and shea butter comfort, nourish, and soften the skin. Whilst a careful combination of self-tanning active ingredients enhances the skin’s color in a very natural way. Can be used for the body and face.
During summer, and especially when I’m on vacation, I don’t wear any foundation but instead, I prefer using the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat Pen only where I need it: underneath the eyes, on the smile lines, and on the crow’s-feet. I mainly use it to conceal dark circles, to smooth fine lines, and to brighten the complexion, for radiant makeup with a natural glow that’s never cakey or overdone. It contains hyaluronic acid to increase hydration and plump skin, and vitamin E antioxidants to fight visible signs of aging.
One of my favorite summer beauty products! Guerlain Terracotta Powder is an iconic, best-selling bronzer with nourishing argan oil and up to 96% naturally derived ingredients for a long-wearing, sun-kissed glow. I just apply it using a bronzing powder brush, and I trace a figure “3” on each side of my face. I start by sweeping across my forehead, down and around the cheekbones then down along the jawline and chin.
I love using an illuminator to highlight the high points of my face as a finishing touch. To do so, I am loving the Chanel Highlighting Fluid that illuminates skin with a delicate dewy finish and provides up to eight hours of wear. I just apply it to highlight my favorite features; above my cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose, on the inner corners of my eyes, and above my cupid’s bow. You can apply it all over as a radiant primer as well.
7. Summer Lip Color
This year, the high gloss or glass finish is taking over all things matte —finally! I am loving the Chanel Rouge Coco Gloss in shade Melted Honey. I love to wear it alone or layer it with shades of coral and pink for a barely-there makeup effect. Its non-sticky, ultra-light formula leaves lips visibly smooth and plump, and perfectly brilliant.
8. Face Mists
During my summer vacation, I always pack a cooling spray to refresh my skin when I’m at the beach or on a flight. Indeed, warmer weather can leave the skin feeling tight and dehydrated, that is why I love using a face mist to refresh and hydrate my skin. Plus, you can keep them in the fridge during the summer months so that they are super cooling and refreshing when applied to the skin.
This summer, I am loving Kahina Giving Beauty’s spray which is made from pure steam-distilled Rosa Damascena that originates from Morocco’s Valley of Roses. Rose Water has long been used by makeup artists and hairstylists —one spritz seals moisture into the skin and softens wavy locks. Keep it in your tote for when you need a refreshing pick-me-up.
9. Fresh Scent
I have a real passion for French perfumes and especially for summery fragrances. And this summer, I’m in love with Chanel Les Eaux Paris-Riviera which combines the sweet, tangy freshness of Sicilian Orange with the delicateness of Neroli for a joyful, sunny scent. A fresh and solar fragrance that evokes the carefree charm of the French Riviera, where Gabrielle Chanel built her villa, La Pausa.
10. Beachy Hair Products
What is summer without beachy waves? It is definitely my go-to hairstyle in summer. I love sea salt sprays and any type of hair products that add extra volume and texture to achievesummery hairstyles like beachy waves.
I love using Rahua’s sea salt spray, designed to create beachy, “mermaid-like” waves. It’s formulated with texturizing Pink Sea Salt, strengthening Hibiscus Extract, and moisturizing Guayaba Sugars. The exotic, tropical scent will give you serious vacation vibes. I just spray it into damp hair and blow-dry with a diffuser for extra volume.
Et voilà! I hope you enjoyed my list of the ten cult beauty products for this summer. If you have any questions, let me know in the comment.
