These Anthropologie Finds Will Give Your Home a Parisian Feel

I’ve always loved Anthropologie (fun fact: it’s the French word for “anthropology”!). I discovered this brand a few years ago while living in London and often visited their stores, either on Regent Street in Soho or on Brushfield Street in Spitalfields. Since then, I’ve continued shopping at Anthropologie for home décor, kitchen items, and other household goodies. Just so you know, this post isn’t sponsored. Like all the posts on this blog, it’s just me, a regular shopper, sharing my honest opinion about things I love with lots of enthusiasm ;)!

When I think of French or Parisian home style, I picture materials like rattan, copper, ceramic, cane, terracotta, linen, marble, velvet, and bouclé. The look is romantic but not kitschy, minimalist yet colorful, vintage yet contemporary, rustic yet elegant. It’s all about finding that perfect balance. I adore mixing home décor that draws inspiration from different scenes and styles, like a copper kitchen pendant light reminiscent of a Parisian bistro, a terracotta urn bringing to mind the flower pots of Provence, a vintage bath cabinet like those in hotel bathrooms in Montmartre, white ceramic plates that remind me of Parisian artisanal workshops like Astier de Villatte or Carron Paris, or beautiful 18th-century floral wall art that you might find at the Natural History Museum. These timeless pieces can easily fit into any home. They are items I love, cherish, and either already have or dream of having in my future “Maison” (home).

I absolutely adore architecture, home design, and décor, and I can’t wait for the day when I’ll buy my own house (which I like to call “la Maison du bonheur,” or “the House of Happiness”). I have so many ideas for my future home and a whole list of furniture and décor items I’m excited to get. I imagine a space filled with light (I dream of a “Jardin d’Hiver” or Winter Garden with exotic plants) that will combine the charm of the old with the comfort of the modern and a touch of contemporary style.

My home is incredibly important to me. Since I work from home, it’s essential for me to be surrounded by beauty and objects I love which are pleasing to look at. I truly believe that our living environment has a direct impact on our well-being and mood. If there’s one area I don’t mind spending on, it’s definitely home décor! So, if you’re a home décor fan like me and want to add a touch of French or Parisian style to your home, I hope my curated selection below will inspire you :).

1. Decor & Lighting

If you’re lucky enough to have a fireplace, consider adding one or a few of these Antiqued brass candlesticks paired with beautiful Trudon’s Madeleine taper candles on one side of your mantel, and place this gorgeous Eleanor table lamp (which reminds me of the Vanity Boum Précieuse table lamp I bought last year) on the other side. In your living room, you can add a touch of exotism with this stunning wallpaper reminiscent of the Orient Express or this beautiful French-style wallpaper inspired by late 18th-century panels created by Pierre Rousseau. Add a cane sofa or chairs, a French crapaud armchair, a mid-century buffet, and a few exotic plants. In one of your favorite vases, place this preserved Mimosa bunch, which recalls the golden beauty of Bormes les Mimosas in the South of France.

Decorate your space with this lovely flower wall art by the 18th-century French botanist Pierre Jean-Francois Turpin, and hang this charming French cottage sign on your kitchen door. If you have an outdoor space, I highly recommend these magnificent floral swag terracotta urns. I bought two of the exact same ones here in Bordeaux, in Majorelle blue, and planted a Tahiti lime (Citrus latifolia) and a Cédratier (Citrus medica) in them. Don’t forget to add a beautiful olive tree to your garden (I planted mine in a lovely terracotta pot)!

2. Kitchen & Dining

I absolutely love the rustic yet elegant style of white earthenware, glazed stoneware, or ceramic dishes! Last year, I bought these Costa Nova Pearl dinner, side, and pasta plates in handcrafted glazed stoneware, and I’m obsessed with them (plus, they’re dishwasher and microwave-safe!). Pair them with these beautiful Glenna serving bowls, this charming cake stand, and a few adorable serveware items from Anthropologie’s Bistro Tile collection, like this cute fromage platter!

Add a touch of Parisian charm to your kitchen with this gorgeous Lourdes Small Pendant in copper and the Galley & Fen Copper Tea Kettle, which reminds me of the French Mauviel cookware often seen in restaurants and bistros. And for cooking, don’t miss out on this lovely Le Creuset Petal Braiser, which is hands down the best casserole I’ve ever used!

3. Bathroom

If there’s one room I absolutely love, it’s the bathroom! I’m a huge fan of retro-style bathrooms from the ’30s and ’50s mixed with modern materials, furniture, and décor. Just like with dinnerware, I prefer bathroom accessories in white, especially ceramic or porcelain, like this chic Le Marais bathroom accessory collection. I also adore this antique-inspired curio cabinet that can add a romantic (but not kitschy) touch to any bathroom. It’s perfect for displaying your most beautiful perfumes, like Guerlain’s Bee bottles, if you have them. Or, you could go for this minimalist yet elegant Aperture bath cabinet; it’s definitely the kind of chic bathroom cabinet you would find in any Parisian boutique hotel …or Parisian apartment ;).
