What to Wear in Paris This Winter

I hope this article doesn’t reach you too late! If you’re already in Paris on vacation, I wish you a wonderful stay! Perhaps this post will inspire your Parisian outfits or even serve as a shopping list ;). On the other hand, if you’re planning a trip to Paris in January (maybe you’re thinking of celebrating New Year’s Eve there?) or February, I hope this article comes just in time and gives you some packing inspiration.

Visiting Paris in winter can be quite charming! There’s so much to see and do indoors—think museums, department stores, the opera, cozy restaurants, and more. From mid-November, you can enjoy the city’s festive Christmas decorations, beautifully adorned department store windows, and Christmas markets scattered throughout different districts.

Having lived further north in Europe—in London and Amsterdam—I’ve never found Paris particularly cold in winter (though that depends on where you’re coming from!). Winter in Paris is chilly and often rainy, with temperatures generally ranging from 46°F to 37°F (8°C to 3°C) in December, dipping slightly to 45°F to 36°F (7°C to 2°C) in January, and gradually warming up in February to around 48°F to 37°F (9°C to 3°C). Expect frosty mornings, overcast skies, and occasionally even a light dusting of snow, adding a magical winter charm to the city.

The key is to pack versatile layers you can adjust throughout the day. Just before leaving, check the 14-day weather forecast for a clearer idea of what to pack. And if you forget something—don’t worry! Paris is the shopping capital, and you’ll find plenty of stores and options to complete your wardrobe ;). I hope you make the most of your trip and enjoy every moment in this beautiful city!

For this little Parisian capsule wardrobe, I was deeply inspired by the soft hue of Sézane’s Nattie cardigan, delicately adorned with tiny white pearls. Its powdery pink color reminds me of cotton candy—fluffy, dreamy, and irresistibly cozy, making it perfect for snuggling into this winter. With the winter holidays approaching, I thought, why not add a touch of color to this Parisian capsule and make it feel a bit less “serious” and a bit more relaxed while still being perfectly wearable for any occasion? I hope you’ll love it and find some inspiration for your winter wardrobe :)!

  1. Sézane Nattie cardigan — I recommend pairing this romantic Sézane Nattie cardigan with dark blue or gray-black jeans and Chelsea boots to balance its soft, feminine vibe.
  2. Rendel Paris Allen sunglasses — I love these sunglasses! They pair perfectly with the warm tones of this capsule wardrobe. They’ll be ideal for those sunny winter days in Paris.
  3. Sandro long wool-blend coat — The ecru color of this Sandro coat is absolutely stunning and effortlessly chic! It’s the perfect piece to brighten up your winter outfits. Its versatility makes it easy to style with classic winter shades like beige, camel, navy, brown, and this season’s standout color—burgundy.
  4. Totême Intarsia wool beanie — A classic yet cozy beanie that pairs well with all your winter coats. Another great option is this Paul beanie from Sézane.
  5. Agolde low-rise straight-leg jeans — These jeans are a perfect go-to style that pairs well with Chelsea boots, ankle boots, or loafers. Another excellent option is this pair from Massimo Dutti, which I own and love—they also come in a black/gray wash.
  6. Isabel Marant Oskan suede shoulder bag
  7. Totême Signature shearling jacket biscuit — I fell in love with this stunning shearling jacket from Totême. If you can splurge, I highly recommend it as a timeless investment piece you’ll wear winter after winter (I bought one last year and wear it constantly!). For a more budget-friendly alternative, consider these beautiful shearling coats from Soeur, Ba&sh, or this jacket from Mango.
  8. Agnelle Susan leather & calf hair gloves
  9. Sandro ankle boots with notched soles — These boots have been on my wishlist for years, and I think this might finally be the year I get them! They’re the perfect, slightly dressier alternative to sneakers.
  10. Soeur Will pullover — I adore the color and relaxed fit of this pullover from the Parisian brand Soeur. It’s effortlessly chic and versatile.
  11. Marie Marot Colleen shirt — This shirt is simply exquisite! I’m in love with its soft baby-blue color, which pairs beautifully with white wool coats or camel shearling jackets. Another option in the same style and color is this Jordana shirt.
