Just a quick blog post today to show you the gorgeous new fall/winter 2024 collection from the Parisian brand Gerard Darel. But before we dive in, a quick note: this post (like all posts on this blog) is not sponsored! I stumbled upon this new collection, probably on Instagram, and I absolutely loved it. I thought you might love it too :)!
This post is not sponsored, and all opinions are my own. I only feature products I truly love and personally select. If you purchase through my links, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Merci!
Are you familiar with the brand? I remember Gerard Darel being hugely popular, especially in France in the 2000s and 2010s. Back then, every high school girl (and their mothers) swore by the iconic 24H bag, created in 2003—a true “it-bag”! Gerard Darel is a Parisian brand founded in 1971 by Danièle and Gérard Darel. The brand quickly became a hit with its classic, fluid cuts and effortlessly chic style. In 1996, Mrs. Darel bought Jackie Kennedy’s black pearl necklace at a Sotheby’s auction in New York, which Gerard Darel later reissued. This purchase garnered international attention, with CNN dedicating a feature to the brand. The 24H bag was launched in 2003, characterized by its soft, draped look, which stood out among the stiffer bags of that time. The bag became a hit even before the ad campaign featuring Charlotte Gainsbourg (who was the brand’s ambassador from 2003 to 2008).
So, what do we think about the new fall/winter 2024 collection? It features all the signature elements of the Parisian wardrobe: the tweed jacket, the straight wool coat, the flared velvet jeans, the trench coat, the flowing blouse, the black tuxedo jacket, the herringbone blazer, and the loafers. I adore the seventies vibe of this collection, with its flared pants, capes, sleeveless vests, and soft crossbody bags (though I’ll happily skip the leopard print trend—not really my style). The pieces are simple, modern, refined, and timeless—perfect chic items that you can wear every day without hesitation. There are a few pieces I particularly love and am considering investing in for this winter. Keep scrolling to see them below ;)!
- Ludmilla Double-Face Wool Hooded Cape – This stunning cape is definitely on my wish list! I absolutely love it. It’s perfect for the fall season when paired with a turtleneck underneath and the Anna flared corduroy jeans.
- Anna Flared Corduroy Jeans – I adore these jeans! They can be styled with a pair of loafers or ankle boots, like the Audrey boots from Carel.
- Melanie Herringbone Blazer – Paired with the Nadyge straight-cut herringbone pants, this set is absolutely sublime!
- Suzanne Half-Moon Bag in Suede Leather – I often wear crossbody bags because I find them so practical, and I love the idea of wearing a bag on the back in a chic, laid-back way.
- Maia Velvet Sleeveless Jacket – I adore this velvet vest, especially when paired with a ruffled blouse like this one from Massimo Dutti and the Anna pants. Very seventies chic!
- Beyza Short Leather Jacket – A very stylish leather jacket.
- Lanaia Straight-Cut Double-Face Wool Coat – A perfect alternative to Totême’s signature camel wool-cashmere coat.
- Morgane Ecru Tweed Jacket – If you don’t have a tweed jacket in your wardrobe yet, I highly recommend this one.
- Le 24H Handbag in Leather – An iconic bag from the brand! It’s a beautiful bag that I’ve added to my wish list!
Bonjour! I’m Léonce, the founder of Léonce Chenal, a blog dedicated to French fashion, beauty, and lifestyle. I’m French and launched Léonce Chenal in 2018 while working as a data analyst in London, inspired to share my love of effortless French style. After living in Paris, London, and Amsterdam, I’ve now settled in the beautiful city of Bordeaux. When I’m not writing, you’ll find me baking pâtisseries, exploring hidden museums, or on the hunt for the perfect perfume.
I lived in Paris in 2005/2006 and bought the large black Le 24 hr bag. That means I’ve had it for almost 20 years, have used it, abused it, traveled all over with it, and it is just as beautiful, if not more, as when brand new.
Wow, Jenifer, that’s so nice to hear! I definitely agree that Gérard Darel is a high-quality brand. I think I’ll probably shop for the cape and the corduroy jeans and save the Le 24h bag for my birthday :). It’s amazing that your bag has lasted almost 20 years and is still as beautiful as ever!
