Last week, Paris pulsed with the rhythm of the shows, a whirlwind of images, silhouettes, and sound. And yet, amid the spectacle, I noticed something else: calm, continuity, restraint. The small gestures of true Parisian style. In the midst of the cameras and commotion of Parisian streets, something quieter emerged: a return to restraint. Silhouettes more natural and effortless than ever. Looks that aim to do less, yet are no less sophisticated, as if the true idea were not to show how much one cares about fashion. Because the essence of dressing lies in being able to wear clothes without ever seeming costumed. It is not about standing out; it is about knowing. Paris reminds us that style need not be louder, only steadier. That restraint, still, reigns supreme.

1. The Softness of Whites

Lately, I’ve found myself quietly drawn to every shade of white, those luminous tones that brighten even the greyest autumn days. If you’re subscribed to Les Édits Privés, you’ve probably already noticed this in my recent edit, Édit No. 12: An Autumn of Whites, Softness and French Chic. I’ve already set my sights on a few immaculate pieces I’d love to add to my autumn–winter wardrobe: the beautiful Hugo Jumper from Sézane, the elegant Hillary Dress paired with black riding-inspired boots like this pair from Massimo Dutti, or perhaps the exquisite ones by Varley. And why not this AYR pair of white trousers worn head-to-toe, with this soft cashmere polo? Perhaps styled with that beautiful white Speedy 25 from Louis Vuitton, carried by the guest in the photo, a bag I find myself unexpectedly adoring. A simple and very Parisian way to soften the season while keeping that quiet light only white can reflect.
2. A Pinstripe Suit, Reimagined

What I love about this silhouette is the idea of taking the most classic of pieces, a tailored blazer and pinstripe trousers in charcoal grey, and making it feel modern with a slightly unexpected shoe and bag. Here, it’s styled with studded loafers, but I’d suggest a version in braided leather or even one with a shearling lining for a softer touch. For the handbag, consider the new Dia Bag from Cuyana, absolutely gorgeous paired with the Noche gold chain strap, or the mini version, which you can carry as a clutch for an evening out. And if, by any chance, you’re searching for a pinstripe suit, I recommend this beautiful 100% wool pinstripe blazer from Massimo Dutti, paired with the matching trousers. So chic.
3. The Parisian Art of the Hat

I fell completely in love with the beautiful Dior beret worn by the guest. To me, it perfectly captures the art of accessorizing à la Parisienne. Wearing a hat, whether it’s a beret, a cap, a felt fedora, or a pillbox hat (so chic and very much having a moment right now), remains the simplest and most elegant way to elevate a silhouette. If, like me, you have long hair, a black satin bow, like this one from Sophie Buhai, worn with a low ponytail, is equally charming for those who prefer not to wear hats.
4. Leather, in All Its Forms

For several seasons now, leather has been everywhere, in all its variations. From a cognac or caramel suede blazer to a longer jacket in smooth classic leather, a cropped lady jacket belted or not, straight-leg trousers, or even a short leather skirt, this autumn, the possibilities feel endless.
5. The Kitten Heel

They’re absolutely everywhere this autumn. These little pointed-toe, low-heeled shoes, the kitten heels, are the ideal alternative to loafers when you want to wear heels but still feel comfortable. I adore them. I first came across this lovely Sézane pair a while ago, so beautiful in the slingback version. I also love Margaux’s Prado Sling in suede, available in black and deep burgundy. As in the outfit worn by the guest in the photo, I find these shoes bring a true touch of femininity, no matter what you wear.
6. Black, Head to Toe

Always chic, always Parisian: the all-black look. The guest in the photo wears an elegant black leather jacket by Róhe. In a similar spirit, I also love the wool version from the same brand, beautifully refined with its pankou closures and embroidered edges. Wear it over a simple black turtleneck, paired with black trousers for a look that’s minimalist yet timeless. And if you’re looking for a beautiful pair of black leather gloves, I highly recommend the Stanislas braided-leather gloves by the French house Agnelle. I invested in a pair from this brand a few years ago, and every time I wear them, I receive nothing but compliments.
Finally, if you’d like to go a little further, this week’s Édit Privé No. 13: In Paris, A New Romanticism Takes Shape, offers an intimate moodboard of the Spring/Summer 2026 trends I observed at the recent shows in Paris. It’s a private reflection on the details, textures, and ideas I believe will shape the seasons to come. For those who love to read between the lines of fashion, and to stay a little ahead, I invite you to discover this new Édit Privé.
