Those of you who receive Les Édits Privés will already know that, for the past few weeks, we’ve been slowly turning our attention to autumn. And I have to admit that, even though I haven’t even left for my summer holiday yet, I am already very ready for la rentrée and everything that comes with it: the little jackets I love pulling out again, the coats that somehow make you look chic in an instant, the soft knits that feel comforting as the days get cooler, and all those small pleasures that make autumn one of my favorite seasons of the year. Perhaps simply because, after summer, it finally feels as though we can really get dressed again.
I’ve been writing a little autumn wardrobe series inside Les Édits Privés, from the pieces I would start with if I had to rebuild a French wardrobe today to what I would reconsider for the new season and, this week, how to dress through that awkward little moment between summer and autumn.
But because I am clearly not capable of waiting until September to start looking at the new collections, I thought I would share a little something with everyone today. Here are sixteen pieces that have caught my eye recently and that I think are worth considering if you are beginning to think about the months ahead too.
What I’m Drawn to for Autumn
So far, I find myself drawn to rich brown leather and suede, beautiful tailoring, longer trousers, refined loafers and flats, pale blue and crisp white shirts, and warm neutrals with touches of burgundy and muted green. Nothing particularly complicated. Just familiar pieces in versions that feel especially right to me now.
