Welcome to my favorite beauty products, a monthly feature in which I’m sharing my favorite products that I’ve tested this month. They’re the best things I’ve tried all month long before having the opportunity to get sick of them and moving on to something new.
In December I didn’t use too many skincare products; I’ve been on holiday for 2 weeks and half, so I kept a very minimalist skincare routine (cleanser, toner, moisturizer). And I think my skin really liked it; my skin has never been so beautiful lately! Cutting back on dairy (milk and cheese) and using Solgar’s skin, nails and hair food supplement helped me to maintain clear and glowing skin. Finally, La Roche-Posay Effaclar range (especially Effaclar Duo[+]) helped me to prevent breakouts and acne scars effectively.
For Christmas, I received a discovery set of 5 Eaux de Toilette from Diptyque which allowed me to discover this (already well known) French fragrance brand. This discovery set is composed of 5 olfactory landscapes: Do Son, Eau des Sens, Philosykos, L’Ombre dans l’Eau, and Eau Rose. I fall in love with this brand, all Eaux de Toilette are so surprising and incredible! My favorites ones are Do Son, Philosykos and L’Ombre dans l’Eau.
“As a child, Yves Coueslant, one of diptyque’s founders, spent his summers in Do Son, in Along Bay. The sea breeze carried the heady and spicy scent of tuberoses. Do Son has the delicateness and persistence of a memory from a childhood in Indochina – the memory of a flower, between lightness and delight.”
“Pick up the petals of a rose, add its green leaves, its stem, and don’t forget its buds. Immerse in clear water and wait to reveal its rosy delicateness, fruity accents and acidulated green notes… Eau Rose is composed like an infusion of the finest damascena and centifolia roses.”
“The memory of a Greek summer at Mount Pelion where, to get to the sea, there was a natural grove of wild sun-soaked fig trees to cross. Philosykos is an ode to the entire fig tree: the green freshness of the leaves, the milky flavour of the figs, the density of the white wood.”
For more details on the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Range, I made a complete review of these anti-acne products in a previous blog post.
Serozinc is a mattifying face mist for oily skin that helps reduce the appearance of shine with zinc sulfate. Serozinc is created with just three ingredients: water, healing zinc sulphate (0.10%) and astringent sodium chloride (0.75%). Together, these three ingredients target blemishes, marks, and excess oiliness, ensuring your complexion feels fresh and comfortable at any time of day. I love to use this product as a toner; after cleansing my face with the Bioderma H2O at night, or to refresh my skin in the morning.
Effaclar Duo[+] is an anti-blemish moisturizer that corrects and hydrates skin for clearer skin in 4 weeks! This gel moisturizer is a real anti-acne hero that reduces the appearance of blemishes and blackheads, controls shine and helps protect the skin from the causes of red and brown colored marks that are often left by spots. I usually apply to the face and neck every evening after cleansing, and I follow with a moisturizer to avoid dryness.
A dermatological clay mask clinically proven to unclog pores, control shine and cleanse impurities caused by pollution. I really like to use this mask as it unclogs pores, controls shine and cleanses even the deep impurities caused by pollution without over-drying your skin. After cleansing, I apply a thin layer and leave it to dry for 5 minutes, then I wipe off gently with cold water and a towel. I usually use it at least once a week.
Antipodes Kiwi Seed Oil Eye Cream is a luxuriously light eye treatment which cools and soothes tired eyes. Antipodes’s eye cream is infused with ultra-rich concentrations of Vitamin C derived from New Zealand Kiwi Fruit Seed, which is well known to stimulate synthesis of collagen production in human skin cells. Carrot Seed Oil and Aloe Gel revives, soothes and hydrates the delicate skin whilst 100% pure Avocado Oil nurtures and rejuvenates with a blend of Essential Fatty Acids, Omegas, and vital Vitamins. Antipodes’s eye cream is perfect to moisturize and soften fine lines around the eye area.
During bad skin days, I like using food supplements such as Solgar’s Skin, Nails, and Hair formula to help support hair, nail, and skin health. Solgar’s premium skin, hair, and nails formula combine specific vitamins and minerals, such as zinc to help with the strength of hair and nails, and vitamin C and zinc to help maintain the skin. Solgar’s formula of vitamins and minerals has been designed to help support your body’s production of collagen and keratin, which can decrease as we age. Collagen and keratin are fundamental to the strength, health, and appearance of the skin, hair, and nails. One daily capsule covers many of your body’s vitamin and mineral needs.
The Klorane Oatmilk Gentle Dry Shampoo is a mild and effective way to cleanse the hair without the need for water. This formulation of the dry shampoo is made up of softening, protective oatmilk extract, corn and rice starch for a thorough cleansing action, natural microspheres (cyclodextrins), and micronized powders with very powerful oil absorbing properties. Dirt, oil, and odor are effectively eliminated, and the hair regains volume and freshness in minutes. I love to use Klorane’s Oatmilk dry shampoo because it’s so simple and practical; spray roots evenly, and leave the product in for 2 minutes. When all of the oil has been soaked up, I just brush my hair thoroughly until the powder is completely removed.
