Best Beauty Products: November 2018

Welcome to my favorite beauty products, a monthly feature in which I’m sharing my favorite products that I’ve tested this month. They’re the best things I’ve tried all month long before having the opportunity to get sick of them and moving on to something new. This month I didn’t introduce too many new beauty products in my skincare routine, but I wanted to focus on getting and maintaining clear skin. I’ve finally found some really good serums, masks, face oils, and cleansing water which do not make me breakout (hurrah!!) and, with clean formulations. This month I loved going to Coco Beautique near to Angel Station in London for a 60 minutes facial (extraction, mask, massage), which was amazing! Finally, to maintain clear skin, I’ve taken Zinc supplement all month long and I’ve introduced Kombucha in my diet.

This list only includes my favorite products of the ones I tried and tested. Check back at the end of each month to find out which beauty product I loved.

Whamisa Organic Flowers Cleansing Water

A natural cleansing water with Aloe, Chrysanthemum extracts and Rosemary oil to dissolve makeup and other impurities. Ingredients are fermented for maximum efficacy. when choosing a cleanser for acne-prone skin, I would recommend sticking to something easy like an oil-based cleanser, a milk cleanser or a micellar water and avoiding anything striping.

Whamisa Organic Flowers Sebum Treatment

This treatment targets excess sebum production. Key ingredients include tea leaf and apple extracts. Gently refreshes cleanses and brightens your skin. Camellia and dandelion ferments help to soothe and rebalance skin while reducing inflammations. This treatment is really amazing! I’ve seen a real improvement on my skin over time: my skin is less oily/shiny and much clearer! Apply after a toner and massage on areas with excessive sebum or entire face until fully absorbed. Use daily, day and night and follow with your moisturizer.

Weleda Calendula Soap

I was looking for a very gentle soap as I have a very sensitive skin and I’m used to having eczema from time to time. And finally, I found it! Weleda Calendula Soap contains soothing extracts from biodynamically grown calendula and organically grown chamomile flowers. It develops a soft foam, which delicately cleanses the skin and is ideal for sensitive skins. Weleda soaps are made from pure organically grown vegetable oils, which do not strip the natural protective layer from the skin. The gentlest of vegetable soaps for sensitive skin. Suitable for adults face or body or for frequent hand washing. The formula is 100% natural, vegan and free from parabens, sulfates, petrochemicals, silicones, synthetic dyes, and artificial fragrance.

Karma Kombucha Ginger

Since taking probiotics food supplement helped me to clear my skin, I always have one bottle of Karma Kombucha in my fridge. Kombucha is a fermented drink made from sweetened tea and a specific culture known as a “scoby” (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeasts). Kombucha is a fermented food and contains a number of probiotic bacteria which can help to balance the gut microbiome and improve digestion. Kombucha contains a significant amount of antioxidants which protect the body from oxidative damages caused by free radicals (green tea is rich in a group of antioxidants called polyphenol). Kombucha contains small amounts of vitamins and mineral which are produced when the yeast breaks down the sugars, including vitamin C and B vitamins B1, B6 and B12. Amazing for the gut, amazing for the skin!

Bio-Selenium+Zinc by Pharma Nord

You probably only know zinc as the ingredient to look for in mineral sunscreens, but it can also play a role in getting clear skin. Zinc reduces the production of dihydrotestosterone (DHT)—which can clog pores and increase pimple-causing inflammation. Studies have shown that Zinc also has anti-inflammatory properties. This may help relieve some of the redness and irritation associated with moderate-to-severe acne. It may even help reduce the appearance of acne scars. I love this food supplement and each time I’m dealing with breakouts and bad skin, I usually take 1 tablet per day for a brief period of 7-10 days or sometimes up to 30 days. My skin is less oily/shiny, and I use to have fewer breakouts and acne scars only after 1 week.

The form of Zinc you use ultimately depends on the severity of your acne, your skin type, and your current dietary habits. Your doctor or dermatologist can help determine the right type of zinc for you.

Coco Beautique – Facial 60 mins

Found a short walk from Angel station, Coco Beautique ltd is a beauty salon based in Islington. There are a number of bespoke treatments and therapies on offer, from lipoglaze cryotherapy to facial waxing, deep tissue massage to acupuncture, all of which are administered by the highly talented, knowledgeable team. I went to Coco Beautique for a 60 mins facial (extraction, mask, and massage). This facial really helped my skin: after extraction, my skin was quite red during the next following 2 days, however, after one week my skin looked amazing! I really liked the fact that this 60 mins facial was completely tailored to my skin type and my concerns: during the first 10 minutes the aesthetician took the time to look at my skin and asked me a lot of questions about my food habits, lifestyle and beauty products I was using. I really loved the facial, and I recommend this beauty salon if you’re living in London.
